yeah- i know, i've been gone---
We had some sad things happening in our family- my sister-in-law, who lived in Moorhead, MN--across the river from Fargo--passed away unexpectedly...so..we went back for the services.
I know people who live in Fargo, probably love Fargo---but I'm so happy we live in CA!
A very moving experience happened to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law about 2 days before her death. There was a young Horned Owl, apparently injured- in the empty lot across the street from their home. They watched it for a day, called Animal Control- but it was the weekend- and they couldn't come out- My bil fashioned a kind of protective cage for the baby, until the AC could come out- They woke up the next morning to find that the owl had died. When AC did come out- my sil asked for some owl feathers -- My sil died 2 days later. She was cremated and my bil added one of the owl feathers into the grave with her cremains.
We have since found that there is a Native American - probably Lakota, tradition about this same happening--this is a message I received from an etsy NA friend--

Marilyn,
Do you know that the Lakota have a belief
that a close personal encounter with Owl
is a harbinger of a death to come?
Usually it is a warning that is personal
or about a close relative.
They look at it as a message to compose
their souls & be ready to move on.
Owl is held in very high regard by the
Lakota and many other tribes. Some
believe Owl is the 'soul carrier' to the
next life.
I wish I could remember where that legend
is written down. Its a very interesting
concept.
I will keep you and your extended family in
my prayers.

very moving and meaningful to me.

Marilyn's Museum of the Odd--grand re-re-re opening!

One of my good CCCOE etsy friends visited the other day--I hope she still isn't in shock- my 'museum' is kind of overwhelming! ;>)
I've had a few problems with someone 'messing' with me/my comments/my paypal lately, and so I've been laying low---but, nothing gets accomplished by any of that- so I'm 'coming out' again! ;>) I have 'broad shoulders', but I don't like it when my friends and etsy-friends are drawn into messes because of me. I learned after teaching a few years, that I wasn't always 'liked', but I didn't appreciate it when others were 'damaged' because of me.
So---any problems- please come to me- and please don't 'hurt' my friends.
Seriousness over---some more goodies from my *Museum*! ;>) ((warning- some are not 'politically correct', but remember - they were created many years ago---when common-sense about some things wasn't always apparent!))

Reopening the Museum of the Odd...

The Museum is still open- but Marilyn has been on hiatus! ;>) I took some of my overflow pixies to our booth at the Antique Store today---it was difficult- but someone has to do it! Maybe there will be someone else out there who has a pixie museum and HAS to have these little strange creatures!
I still have a lot- though, scarily enough!
Here is a new batch- these are kind of cute- they're 'Josefs', and are pretty expensive now- but I got them before everyone else was looking for them --sometimes I'm lucky that way---too lucky, the hubby would say!

Marilyn's Museum of the Odd - part 6

Can you believe it? More odd little guys! These kind of look like Snap, Krackle and Pop!
I hope I'm not the promoter of nightmares---but these little guys seem to watch over me---while they're lookin' at me! ;>)
( check out all those vintage bottle caps in the pickle jar behind these guys---no- i don't collect them, i just happened to come by them and 'knew that i could use them someday!'- didn't want to see them thrown away--is that kind of close to hoarding? ;>) )
